How do I fund my AI agent with USDC?

Send USDC on Solana to the wallet_address your agent reads from GET /getAgentWallet, or USDC on Base to its base_wallet_address. Both addresses feed one balance, and the same call reports when the deposit has landed. Never send funds to the agent’s user_id: a usr_... value is an account id, not an address.

Step 1: Get the funding addresses

The agent signs in, announces its connection, and reads its wallet. The sign-in steps are in the managed agent wallet guide.
If has_wallet is false, the human finishes wallet setup at laso.finance/agent/dashboard first. Reference: GET /getAgentWallet.

Step 2: Send USDC

Send from any wallet or exchange that can withdraw USDC on the right network: Both land in the same balance_usdc. Use the network that is cheapest for you. A deposit on one network is not stranded there: when a payment needs funds on the other side, Laso moves them first. See One balance on Solana and Base. At least $5 covers a first prepaid card order, with a little headroom for the paid endpoints the agent calls along the way.

Step 3: Confirm the deposit landed

Call GET /getAgentWallet again. balance_usdc rises and needs_funding turns false.
To react without polling, register a webhook with POST /register-webhook. Wallet deposits arrive as notification.deposit deliveries. See Agent webhooks.

Other ways to fund an agent

  • Bank transfer. A virtual US bank account with ACH and wire details converts dollars to USDC in the managed wallet. See Agent bank accounts.
  • A wallet you already control. If your agent pays from its own wallet, fund that wallet directly. See Wallet providers.

Check balances after the agent spends

Call GET /get-account-balance. Paid requests move USDC from the wallet to Laso, so the account balance often reads 0 after a purchase while total_deposits has grown. Funds still held are agent_wallet.balance_usdc plus balance. Reference: GET /get-account-balance. To pull leftover USDC back out, see How do I get USDC back out of my AI agent’s account?.

FAQ

What do I send to fund an AI agent’s wallet?

USDC on Solana to wallet_address, or USDC on Base to base_wallet_address, both from GET /getAgentWallet.

Can I fund my agent from a bank account?

Yes. Open a banking profile and an on-ramp account, and dollars sent by ACH or wire arrive as USDC in the managed wallet. See Agent bank accounts.

Why can’t I send funds to my agent’s user id?

The user_id is an opaque account id that exists on no blockchain. USDC sent to it is lost, so only use the two wallet addresses.

How much USDC does an agent need to start?

$5 covers a first prepaid card order. The agent can only spend within the per-payment limit its owner sets, which you can read in Spend limit.

How do I know my agent’s deposit arrived?

Poll GET /getAgentWallet until balance_usdc rises, or register a webhook and wait for a notification.deposit delivery.
